It also includes answers to frequently asked questions, travel warnings and a list of airports on high alert. As of Wednesday, May 14, the MERS outbreak has not been classified as a public health emergency, yet, airports throughout the country have already begun posting travel advisories and opening quarantine sections.
Currently, a travel insurance policy can still be purchased to cover a MERS infection, however this can change. One of the most important upcoming events is the date at which the MERS outbreak is deemed a "known event" or "foreseeable." Any travel insurance policies purchased after this date will not cover the virus.
