Spain-based assistance provider MAPFRE Assistance (MAPFRE) is moving into the travel insurance market in Italy, having signed an agreement with Spanish travel insurer Intermundial to provide a range of exclusive policies. These policies will be: Ski and Adventure, Multiassistance, Groups, and Travel Cancellation â€" all of which will be available via tour operators and travel agencies or through Intermundial’s website. The 2011 recipient of ITIJ’s Insurer/Underwriter of the Year Award, MAPFRE plans to capitalise on the healthy projected expansion of the Italian tourist market: A recent survey by the Italian Confederation of Small and Medium-Sized Tourism, Trade and Service Companies (Confesercenti) showed that 66 per cent of Italians are planning on taking a holiday this year.
