I love the small museums of Paris; the Orangerie, located in the Tuilleries, has two fantastic oval rooms with Monet’s Water Lily canvases surrounding you.  Another favorite small Paris museum is the Marmottan, a former estate that now houses a treasure trove of impressionist paintings, including Monet’s painting that gave Impressionism its name: Impression Sunrise. On our last trip to Paris, we visited  the Musee du Luxembourg. This small museum is located on the perimeter of the Luxembourg Gardens -another Paris must-see.

The Musée du Luxembourg has become established as one of the leading exhibition spaces in Paris, enabling its numerous visitors to enjoy the masterpieces of Botticelli, Raphaël, Titian, Arcimboldo, Veronese, Gauguin, Matisse, Vlaminck, Modigliani and more.

Before or after your visit, be sure to stop at the Angelina au musée du Luxembourg for lunch or simply a cup of coffee. Housed in a brand new building, the combined tea room, café and restaurant will offer museum visitors light lunches, desserts and its famous hot chocolatein an elegant Belle Epoque décor reminiscent of the original location on rue de Rivoli.
